Established in 1976.

Our dealing interests focus on old tribal and village rugs, kilims, and roomsize decorative carpets from the traditional weaving areas of Central Asia, the Caucasus, Persia and Turkey.

Our business premises are situated in the inner Sydney suburb of Pyrmont only ten minutes walk from the CBD and easily accessible by public and private transport. There are two main gallery spaces where we hold four or five major exhibitions throughout the year, and a separate purpose-built washing and repair facility.

Our modus operandi has been to hold regular exhibitions of “Recent Acquisitions” and occasional thematic catalogue exhibitions under the banner of “Rare Oriental Rugs”, the most recent being “Looking Into Paradise - The Magic Of Prayer Rugs”. Since the mid 1980s we have expanded our interests to include Indonesian and other south east Asian textiles and tribal art.

Our broader aims have been to cultivate public interest in our specialised areas and to provide continuing support to public institutions through loans and the provision of expertise. We are an honorary associate of the Powerhouse Museum, members of the Australian Antique Dealers Association and CINOA (la Confederation Internationale des Negociants en Oevres d’Art) and founder members of the Oriental Rug Society of NSW and The Asian Art Society of Australia.
